I’ve been working at home since the art center closed in March. Finished one big new drawing, did a couple quick projects, and working on a couple of demonstration videos I hope to post soon. Meanwhile, it looks like the Dunedin Fine Art Center will start classes again with Summer I at the beginning of June. Classes will be limited in size, so register early. Safe practices include everyone having to wear masks, proper distancing and cleaning before and after classes. We will probably be in “art camp” mode with the adult classes being upstairs.
I have four workshops coming in 2017 and 2018 at the Lee County Alliance for the Arts in Ft Myers.
Each two-day class is $160 LCAA members/$200 non-members. Register with the links below or call the LCAA at (239) 939-2787
The first is The Secret Weapons of Colored Pencil on October 28 – 29. No matter your level of experience, you will learn tricks and tips to help you get the most from the very versatile medium of colored pencil. All students receive a custom kit with supplies, paper and handouts and pencil sets will be available for use in class if you wish to try before you buy.

“Neat, portable and inexpensive, colored pencils can be used for any style work, from rough sketches to finely detailed realism. Students experiment with color and techniques for a full range of special effects. Emphasis on developing an individual style through personal guidance from instructor and class discussion. For all levels, but some background in drawing is strongly suggested.”
We have changed the date of the “plein air” colored pencil workshop to October 30. There is still time to join us for this casual, fun class at Wall Springs Park in Palm Harbor. Drawing on location helps develop general drawing skills, and it’s a wonderful way to record travels. Although no special materials are needed for this class, just some pencils and a good sketchbook, you’ll also learn about the equipment that makes working outdoors easier. (Materials list available to help you choose which pencils to bring.) Class will meet 9 AM – 3 PM; fee: $75 DFAC members, $105 non-members Register through the Dunedin Fine Art Center
