EXPERIENCE

Self-employed as an artist, producing photo-realist drawings and paintings (colored pencil, oil and acrylics), including commissioned work.

 

Instructor since 1990 at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, Dunedin, Florida, teaching courses in drawing, colored pencil, oil and acrylic painting.

 

Featured workshop presenter at the Colored Pencil Society of America’s annual convention, August 2005. Registered teacher with the Michael Wilcox School of Color. Other experience includes teaching at the Museum of Fine Art, St. Petersburg; conducting workshops; guest lectures; show judging; instructing design and illustration at St. Petersburg Junior College and Tampa College; agency and free-lance graphic design, layout and copywriting; and gallery installation.

Corporate Relations Director,15 year merit CPSA signature member and 5 year merit CPX signature member of the  Colored  Pencil Society of America (CPSA). Previously CPSA President for 4 years, Ways & Means Director for 8 years

PUBLICATIONS

The Drawing Board: Mix It Up, feature article The Artist’s Magazine, October 2012 – step-by-step article on a mixed media technique, written by and featuring artwork by the artist.

One of 16 artists featured in Creative Colored Pencil Portraits by Vera Curnow (1996); Drawings also in the books The Best of Colored Pencil 2 (1994), The Best of Colored Pencil III (1996), The Best of Colored Pencil 5 (1999), Portrait Inspirations (1997), and Creative Colored Pencil, by Vera Curnow (1995). (All from Rockport Publishers.) Also in The Best of Portrait Painting (North Light Books, 1997).

Featured in “Methods & Materials: Drawing with Wax-Based Colored Pencils,” by Christopher Willard, American Artist Magazine, November 1996 and American Artist Drawing Highlights, 1999.

Artwork commissioned by Cumberland Pencil Co. (Keswick, England) for Derwent pencil promotion and advertising (2004, 2008), product packaging and brochures. Artwork also featured in brochures and advertising for Stonehenge paper by Legion Paper, Canson paper, Bruynzeel, Derwent and Prismacolor colored pencils, and Staedtler-Mars product packaging.

“Tour Artist” for the Dunedin Historical Society since 1998 , illustrating the homes on the Society’s biennial fundraising tours, their museum, and other historic buildings.
